Sarpa Salpa start 2022 with another brand new single ‘Somebody’, out 14th January. ‘Somebody’ follows October release ‘Your House’ which saw plays from Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, huge support from Amazing Radio and the Student Radio Association Network, plus acoveted spot on the Radio X X-Posure Playlist. The final icing on the cake saw both singles from 2021 included in the ‘Best Of’ Future artists round up in Jack Saunders end of year tracks.
With consistent radio support through lockdown followed by the success of their last release, the band capped off 2021 with ahuge 15 date headline tour across the UK which included sell out dates in Manchester, Glasgow, London & Newcastle, rounding out a year that also included a handful of summer festivals which included support slots with Ash and McFly and a prestigious slot at the Sound City Festival. The tour was funded & supported by the PPL Momentum Fund as part of the release of previous EP ‘A Feeling You Can’t Replace’.
With their next tour kicking off in February and a spot at SXSW in Texas in March, 2022 looks set to be a massive year for Sarpa Salpa.
Of the single Vocalist Marcus Marooth says, “Somebody is a final goodbye to an old friend after 7 years together, it’s the summary of realisation that we weren’t meant to be and that we are both happier and better off where we are today. It’s a token of thanks and respect to what was as we both head down new paths and better lives. It’s also self reflective in my flaws in my past relationship and what I could’ve done better, what they deserved and simply weren’t getting. It’s my way of pushing her to find someone better than me and not lose confidence or faith in the world!”
