Aviv Gilad is a songwriter and pianist living in Ridgewood, Queens with 10 roommates, 40,000 bees, and a small but comprehensive arrangement of kitchen appliances. When not leading the prog-soul outfit Valipala, he writes precise, lyrical songs informed by the last half-millenium or so of the short-form vocal tradition.
About The Song
This song, “On the Farm” is the title track from an upcoming album of the same name. The lyrics tell the story of how the album came to be — in the early pandemic, a few of us found ourselves isolating far from the city, and we were able to make a lot of music free from the expectations of press or listeners or the world at large. We’ve finally decided to release that music as a sort of memento from a time now long ago.
