THIS IS A VERY PERSONAL SONG TO KERRIA. SHE OPENLY TALKS ABOUT HER EXPERIENCE GROWING UP IN DOMESTIC ABUSE. WHILST WRITING “STAY”, KERRIA EXPLAINS HOW SHE INVISIONED HER YOUNGER SELF STANDING NEXT TO HER. FEELING SO VULNERABLE AS A YOUNG CHILD IN HER OWN HOME, KERRIA SINGS THE WORDS “THINGS REALLY DO GET BETTER”. HAVING HER BIOLOGICAL FATHER SHOWING NO INTEREST IN BEING APART OF HER LIFE, KERRIA ALWAYS FELT LIKE THERE WAS A MISSING PIECE IN HER HEART. ALTHOUGH SHE FEARED HIS PRESENCE SHE STILL YEARNED FOR HIS ATTENTION. KERRIA HOPES THIS SONG EMPOWERS OTHERS WHO MIGHT HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED DOMESTIC ABUSE NOT TO GIVE UP ON HOPE. SHE WILL CONTINUE TO BRING AWARENESS TO THIS TOPIC AS SHE BELIEVES THERE IS A BRIGHTER SIDE OF DARKNESS.
